The role
Duel runs on near-zero margin. That makes measurement unusually important: small errors in understanding compound fast.
You own data from ingestion to insight. Pipelines, models, dashboards, and the analysis that changes decisions. There is no data team above you and no analyst below you.
What you’ll do
- Build and own the data platform: events, warehouse, transformations, BI layer
- Model player behaviour, retention, and lifetime value honestly
- Track live game performance against theoretical math and flag divergence
- Give marketing real attribution instead of channel folklore
- Support risk and security with detection signals for abuse and collusion
- Make self-serve work so the company stops queueing for numbers
- Say when the data doesn’t support the story
What you’ll need
- Strong SQL and Python; you can build the pipeline and then interpret what comes out of it
- Experience owning a data stack end to end — ingestion, warehouse, modelling, BI
- Comfortable with event-level product data at volume (ClickHouse, BigQuery, or similar)
- You have worked on gambling, gaming, or fintech metrics and understand what they hide
- Able to model game performance against theoretical RTP and spot drift
- You answer questions people didn’t think to ask
- Crypto-comfortable — on-chain data is part of the picture
